Sikar recorded the highest rainfall of 10 cm during the 24-hour period ending Tuesday morning. Heavy rainfall was also recorded in Nawalgarh in Jhunjhunu, Shahabad in Baran, Jhunjhunu, Bari and Baseri in Dholpur, according to the weather department.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall was reported at isolated locations in Dholpur, Jaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Baran districts.
The Meteorological Department said that a cyclonic circulation continues over northeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas, while the monsoon trough is passing through its normal position. Under the influence of these weather systems, the monsoon is expected to remain active across most parts of the state for the next four to five days.
The department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in eastern and southeastern Rajasthan during this period. On Tuesday, moderate to heavy rainfall was expected at isolated locations in Bharatpur, Jaipur and Ajmer divisions, while light to moderate rainfall was likely in parts of Jodhpur, Udaipur and Bikaner divisions.
Between July 22 and July 26, rainfall activity is expected across most parts of Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated locations, with very heavy rainfall possible at one or two places, according to the forecast.
Meanwhile, heavy overnight rainfall caused severe waterlogging in Sikar city after showers began late Monday night. Floodwater entered residential quarters in the Police Lines area and the District Collectorate premises, while several city roads witnessed water accumulation of three to four feet.
Railway operations were also affected due to waterlogging at the railway yard. According to North Western Railway, the Sikar-Rewari train was cancelled between Loharu and Rewari, while the Rewari-Jodhpur train was cancelled between Rewari and Loharu.
The State Water Resources Department stated that Rajasthan has received 20.25 per cent below-normal rainfall as of July 20, placing the state in the deficit rainfall category.
Twenty-four districts, including Jaipur, Banswara and Udaipur, are currently in the deficit rainfall category. Fifteen districts have recorded normal rainfall, while Bikaner and Churu have received excess rainfall, the department said.
The revival of monsoon activity has provided relief from the prolonged rainfall gap but has also created challenges in several areas due to waterlogging and disruption of public services. With heavy rainfall expected across multiple regions in the coming days, authorities remain focused on managing the impact of intensified monsoon conditions across Rajasthan.
